Matson's Story
100% Canterbury, 100% Naturlly Brewed
The Matson's name was derived from an early Canterbury family of astute businessmen involved in auctioneering, stock and station agents and liquor wholesaling.
While the Matson family still survive in Canterbury, they do not have any direct association with the brewery, but the brewery is proud to carry on such a pioneering name.
While other main breweries now have a majority overseas ownership, Matson's has stayed very much in Canterbury ownership, employing all local staff but at the same time supplying product from Nelson to the West Coast, Oamaru and Dunedin.
Maton's Brewery is situated in Sockburn, just off Parkhouse Road, Christchurch, and is fronted by the Parkhouse Tavern. Call in and have a Matson's beer while you look through the brewery – you are most welcome.
